Winter is the time of the year that all the plants and flowers seem to die, the days are somber and the nights are long, and everything seems to stop… Right? Wrong!!!!
These are the misconceptions of Europe. We have a rose tree in our garden with hundreds of roses on it, The Strelizia is developing some flowers that will come out in the coming weeks, and we just planted lavender that immediately started to blossom.
Winter in Melbourne seems to be the most colourfull time of the year, and the plants recuperate from a long and dry summer.
Most days have bright days that seem a lot longer than the winter days in Europe; last week was the shortest day of the year, but we still had daylight from 7 am till after 5 pm.
And from now on the days are lengthening again!
